    @WrAth2110 indeed. I forgot to mention FICC/Equities.

    But TYPICALLY speaking, an i-banker is someone who works in corporate finance whereas a trader is someone who (obviously) works in the trading environment.

    @applexy

    That’s somewhat true, however i-banking covers trading, private wealth management, research, LBO (private equity), debt issuance, and more. M&A is only one segment of an investment bank.

    The general law …
    The general law profession is oversaturated in America. I cannot comment on the level of saturation for corporate lawyers. It is always important to research these things.

    i am this close to getting my bs in accounting and.i plan to go to graduate school immediately.thinking about studying finance. esp corporate finance with a minor in corporate/managarial accounting.i read a lot on investment banking.the salaries are good but the hours are a too much. those people barely have a life to live. they work a ridiculous amount of hours and some dont even make it.my question to is;do you think it would be easier to break into investment banking as a corporate lawyer?

    “emptycell”

    you sound young.

    try to find out what ‘investment banking’ really IS, as there are different parts to the whole.

    Define what you think you want to do on a daily basis. For example, if you WANT to be an accountant you may NOT be suited for the mergers and acquisitions side of the house.

    In M&A there is much that cannot be defined: An example would be HOW you were able to land a deal. Simply put, much of what the real winner have going for them IS NOT taught in school.

    It can’t be
