There is a wide assortment of jobs in investment banking, including (but not limited to) risk, sales, research, structuring, trading, M&A, equity, LBO and such. Capital markets are complex and subject to regulatory oversight. By the time you are actually educated sufficiently, the laws will have changed. Most people think it's a 'get rich quick' business but in fact, it's like wanting to be an actor: there are a zillion actors for every star. You pay a lot of dues, work long hours (60 - 80 hrs a wk) and have to love what you do.
